Painting done circa 1707-1712 during the reign of Awrangzeb, ruler of the Mughal Empire. The painting is attributed to Bhavanidas. Timur also known as Timurlane was born in Transoxiana in 1336 and is now buried in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. He founded the Timurid Empire which rivaled the size and power of Genghis Khan's domain, forged a century earlier.
